Social-media / Communications Officer (Contractor position)

The GBPN is seeking the services of an experienced and dynamic Social Media and Communications Officer / Consultant who can work closely with the Operations and Finance Director and the Executive Director to support with Communications and Social-Media Outreach. 

Responsibilities & Activities:

The SMC Officer/consultant‘s role is to provide services to help implement the communications strategy in line with the GBPN Business Strategy. His/her responsibilities are to:

  • Deliver digital communication activities: 
  • Animation of the GBPN website: suggest and draft articles for the website, preparing newsletters, manage the blog, produce multi-media contents 
  • Frequent community management of social accounts to ensure GBPN’s online presence and engagement (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Slide Share)
  • Target e-mailings to promote the organisation’s goals and messages
  • Dissemination of GBPN publications
  • Support the GBPN team: 
  • Editing process of the GBPN publications & Presentations
  • Manage all design tasks (layout of reports when required, production of infographics, etc.). 
  • Prepare communications materials for conferences, seminars and other events
  • Help draft other documents when required 

As part of  the role, he/she will be liaising with service providers (designers, website hosting partners, external consultants)

Required Attributes & Qualifications:

  • Proven track record of delivering similar services 
  • Native English speaker or equivalent level
  • Exceptional writing, editing and written communication skills and demonstrated proficiency in writing for the web
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Solid balance of creativity and critical thinking skills
  • Experience with content management systems 
  • Applicant must have an interest and experience in the topic of climate change and sustainable development and the capacity to understand policy and technical aspects related to energy performance of buildings and must have experience of communications in these fields
  • Able to work under short timelines when required, and with contacts located in other time-zones (US / Asia / Australia)
  • Ability to coordinate external contractors and suppliers’ activities 


  • Be available to commence immediately
  • The consultant will work from his/her normal place of work 
  • A fixed-term fee-for-service contract (6 months) with possibility for extension based on performance
