REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL: PROGRAMS/RESEARCH ASSISTANT – AFRICA

Background  

The Global Buildings Performance Network (GBPN) is a global and regionally focused not-for-profit organization whose mission is to decarbonize the building sector. We only have 8 years to half buildings sector GHG emissions and be on a zero-emissions path. GBPN is tackling this challenge through policy reform, working with local experts and partners.

With staff members located around the World in Indonesia, India, Singapore, Australia, and Europe, GBPN brings over 10 years of knowledge and innovation to sustainable building policy reform. With every project, governments leverage our intellectual capital, our experience, analysis, evidence and our network. GBPN’s goal is to help the building sector achieve its full energy savings and CO2 mitigation potential of more than 2.1 Gt by 2030. To do that, GBPN assists governments and industry to implement climate change actions in their building sectors that help achieve their commitment to the Paris Climate Agreement and Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).

Mission Purpose 

Due to the continued growth of GBPN, the organization is developing networks and mapping opportunities on the African continent. 

Therefore, we are looking for a Programs/ Research Assistant to work closely with the Africa Programs Development Lead on writing of programs, research and ongoing projects. The successful  Programs Assistant will be responsible for collaborating with the Africa Programs Development lead and other partners and stakeholders towards delivery of key targets.

The Opportunity 

GBPN is seeking the services of a Programs Assistant to 

  1. Organize and host online meetings using licensed GBPN Zoom account and properly document it by preparing and circulating agendas, recording of the meeting sessions, minutes of meetings, etc.
  2. Manage correspondences (emailing invitations, drafting letters, simple translations) and manage database of contacts (government counterparts, experts).
  3. Support in Africa Program related matters.
  4. Support in organization of events (webinars, trainings/education, FGD with stakeholders), communication materials development and update of GBPN event calendars.
  5. Support in collecting data and information required for desk research and analysis.
  6. Support in Africa regional project monitoring and evaluation, including collecting post event evaluation sheets and preparing summary of outputs for respective project.
  7. Update of centralized African Countries stakeholders Database on regular basis and post-events.
  8. Update of project files in centralized GBPN Shared Drive on regular basis.

Target Regions : Africa role, but preferably to suit EU & Asian time zones

Place of Work : Remote

Anticipated Start of Work :  May 1st, 2024

Duration : 10 Months

Qualifications 

We are looking for a Graduate Built Environment Research/ Programs Assistant. An individual with a background in Architecture, Engineering, Urban Planning or Climate in the Built Environment is sought on a 10 month engagement. Strong writing and research skills are required as well as a keen eye for detail.

The Individual must fulfill the following criteria

  • At least Bachelor degree.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Fluent in English (writing and speaking).
  • Understand well how to operate Zoom and other online meeting application.
  •  A good experience is an advantage.

Tasks, Deliverables and Schedule 

The main outputs from this work will be:

  1. Organize and host online meetings using licensed GBPN Zoom account and properly document it by preparing and circulating agendas, recording of the meeting sessions, minutes of meetings, etc.
  2. Manage correspondences (emailing invitations, drafting letters, simple translations) and manage database of contacts (government counterparts, experts).
  3. Support in Finance-related matters and procurement process.
  4. Support in organization of events (webinars, trainings/education, FGD with stakeholders), communication materials development and update of GBPN event calendars.
  5. Support in collecting data and information required for research and analysis and writing of programs.
  6. Support in project monitoring and evaluation, including collecting post event evaluation sheets and preparing summary of outputs for respective project.
  7. Update of centralized Indonesia Stakeholders Database on regular basis and post-events.
  8. Update of project files in centralized GBPN Shared Drive on regular basis.

Tools, Guidance and Training 

The consultant will receive templates, guidance and access to tools required to fulfill the role.
