Based on the prescriptive U-factor table, it allows trade-offs whereby some energy-efficiency measures can fall below code requirements if balanced by other measures that exceed code requirements.

    Residential buildings must post a certificate on or near the electrical panel. There is no requirement for commercial buildings. However, buildings that are 50,000 sq ft or larger must annually benchmark their energy and water usage using the US EPA’s Portfolio Manager tool.
