Dr. Satish Kumar

President and Executive Director of AEEE

Dr. Satish Kumar is the founder and president of Alliance for an Energy Efficient Economy (AEEE), a leading organization in India that works on creating awareness about energy efficiency as a resource. Dr. Kumar has been a member of the GBPN Technical Advisory committee and served on GBPN’s Board of Directors for two years from 2013 – 2015.

Prior to AEEE, he was the Energy Efficiency Ambassador and led the Energy Management business at Schneider Electric India, was a Scientist at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, and the Chief of Party for a USAID-supported bilateral energy efficiency technical assistance program (ECO-III) project. He also works closely with senior policy makers in the Ministry of Power/Bureau of Energy Efficiency, NITI Aayog, Ministry of Environment Policy and Climate Change, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs and Department of Science and Technology.

Highlights of his career include developing the India Cooling Action Plan, launching and implementing India’s Energy Conservation Building Code (ECBC), Coordinating with the world’s leading M&V professionals to develop IPMVP, developing the State Energy Efficiency Index, launching Solar Decathlon India to help India in its journey to achieve its Net Zero Energy future goals and advocating a data-driven energy efficiency policy culture.

Satish has a PhD in building performance from Carnegie Mellon University and a Bachelor of Architecture from Indian Institute of Technology. Satish is based in New Delhi, India.
