TERMS OF REFERENCE: GLOBAL NETWORK COORDINATOR

Contract: Fixed term, 4-days per week consultancy contract
Target Regions: The primary focus of this activity will be to identify and engage network members, primarily from the Asia Pacific Region with a focus on Indonesia, Malaysia, China and India and influence important stakeholders in India and Indonesia – including government, the private sector and academics and experts.
Place of work: Work from own premises with potential travel
Supervisor: Head of Networks and Engagement
Anticipated start of work: Immediate start
Duration: 12 months from the start date

Background

We only have 8 years to half buildings sector GHG emissions and be on a zero-emissions path. GBPN is tackling this challenge by decarbonising the building sector through policy reform. This requires a collective effort.

GBPN is a system-wide network NGO working to reform building sector policy to limit global warming. Formerly a think tank, GBPN now works on innovative projects in key regions of the world where it can have the most impact.

GBPN works using a unique coalition model that connects local policymakers and building professionals with industry-leading experts to reform building policies to achieve zero-emissions goals. We combine global insights with local action changing building policy through education, support and collaboration.

We’re changing the conversation, highlighting the climate, health, economic and environmental benefits of policy reform.

Our primary audiences are government policy and decision makers and experts working within the building sector to assist in limiting climate change (e.g academics, researchers, developers, designers, renewable energy experts etc).

The Opportunity

GBPN is seeking a Global Network Coordinator with a broad skill base to provide ongoing support to:

  • Implement and monitor the Global Network Strategy, including
    • Implement the network engagement and monetisation plans, including online and in-person event management
    • Grow the network and GBPN’s broader database
    • Manage the network onboarding process (under the Network Engagement Plan)
    • Develop and nurture network relationships (under the Network Engagement Plan)
    • Monitor the network using the strategy results framework
    • Test market appetite for a variety of marketable properties (under the Network Monetisation Plan)
  • Provide regular content opportunities to Communications to promote the network and its activities and maintain the network webpages and CRM.
  • Implement the online learner management system (Kaya) learner journeys to bring them over to the network and evaluate the success of the online courses.

The Global Network Coordinator will work in collaboration with the Head of Network and Engagement and Head of Communications and Digital Marketing.

Qualifications

We are looking for a Coordinator with qualifications related to GBPN’s core business (climate change, disaster risk reduction, international or community development, international relations, urban planning, placemaking or similar fields) who has an interest in network engagement, communications, behaviour change and community building.

Selection Criteria

Essential:

  • Strong professional networking and relationship building, both internal and external. Confident in liaising with experts at all levels of organisational seniority to manage the network program.
  • High-level organisation and project management, including online and in-person event planning and management (e.g. webinars, panels)
  • Ability to moderate and engage online community in English (LinkedIn)
  • Fluency in English and good writing skills. Able to convert complex technical ideas into engaging, straightforward language
  • Able to work from home, to work independently with minimal supervision and high levels of proactivity
  • Confident using digital collaboration tools such as Zoom, Google Suite (or willing to learn).

Desirable:

We are seeking an individual with:

  • Experience with NGO/INGOs
  • Awareness of climate change mitigation and related issues (renewable energy, urban planning, sustainable buildings, etc.)
  • Experience managing a member-based engagement program
  • Experience managing, moderating and providing engaging content for an online community
  • Knowledge of social media platforms and audience targeting
  • Knowledge of CRMs, especially Zoho, is a bonus

Deliverables

  • Effective delivery, monitoring and reporting of Network Strategy, including the Network Engagement Plan and Network Monetisation Plan
  • Development, management and delivery of annual plan and calendar of activities
  • Grow GBPN database through network activities above and beyond current organic growth rates
  • Grow GBPN LinkedIn following and LinkedIn groups through network activities above and beyond current organic growth rates
  • Provide data from network activities to assist in the following:
    • Identifying our network target audience
    • Developing a strong and in-demand calendar of activities for our target audience.

Contract Type and Schedule of Payment

Assignment through a consulting contract over a period of 12 months – with the possibility for extension upon review. The consultant will work from home or their normal place of work.

Schedule of Payment:

Fees in USD shall be paid to the Consultant: (inclusive of expenses or plus reimbursable expenses upon submission of invoice and supporting documents, as applicable) not to exceed the final costing agreed upon at negotiation and in a contractual agreement. Invoices should be submitted according to the schedule agreed in the contract, along with a timesheet, outputs and an overview of activities delivered. All final outputs will be subject to internal GBPN review procedures and will need to be cleared by the Head of Networks and Engagement in close coordination with the Head of Communications and Marketing and the Head of Operations.
