Joint collaboration to help the city of Samarinda become a green residential champion in Indonesia

On 19 October 2020, GBPN received a Letter of Endorsement from the Mayor of Samarinda, H. Syaharie Ja’ang, S.H., that endorses the joint collaboration between the Samarinda City Government, GBPN and the University of 17 Augustus 1945 Samarinda (UNTAG) for policy development in low carbon residential buildings.

On 19 October 2020, GBPN received a Letter of Endorsement from the Mayor of Samarinda, H. Syaharie Ja’ang, S.H., that endorses the joint collaboration between the Samarinda City Government, GBPN and the University of 17 Augustus 1945 Samarinda (UNTAG) for policy development in low carbon residential buildings.

The collaboration is part of GBPN’s policy plan and policy implementation phases to realise the objective key results in Indonesia for the implementation of policy in low carbon buildings between 2021-2023. The Mayor referred to GBPN’s commitment to policy development as a way to “help the city of Samarinda become a green residential champion in Indonesia and make it a more liveable city for all residents”.

During a ceremonial event that was held between 9 -11 November 2020 GBPN Indonesia Team – Mei Batubara, Yeni India, Matthieu Caille and David Sagita – were invited by the Mayor and the Secretary of Samarinda City, Sugeng Chairuddin to officially launch the collaboration in Samarinda City.

GBPN’s Peter Graham, Jeswynn Yogaratnam and Sandra Pranoto will be overseeing the development of the Policy Roadmap for Samarinda City together with UNTAG’s Head of Architecture, Mr Prasetyo. This people-centred collaboration was noted by Mr Prasetyo as a strategic enabler “to share knowledge and experience between international and local experts…while implementing low-carbon policy.”
