Following the success of HIDUP in Indonesia, formed a new local coalition of public and private sector stakeholders called ‘Jinda’ (Alive in Hindi) to coordinate efforts in India.
A residential energy code has been launched in India and our goal is to support its adoption as law in at least one state. The goal of this effort is to increase the number of projects being constructed to code, and to collect evidence of costs and benefits that build the case for mandating the use of the code by a state.
Due to the disruptions caused by COVID to the construction sector, we have adjusted our tactics to focus on provision of a toolkit to support the adoption of the code in:
- The National Climate Smart-Cities Alliance
- State Government’s by-laws aligned with the Energy Conservation Building Code for residential buildings (ECO-NIWAS SAMHITHA 2018).
- Local Government in the city of Ahmedabad.
