Launched in June 2021, the Climate Centre for Cities (C-Cube) focuses on strengthening the capacities of cities to understand, implement and monitor actions needed for addressing climate change impacts.

C-Cube is one of the National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA) initiatives. NIUA is one of India’s leading national think tanks on urban planning and development. As a hub for the generation and dissemination of cutting-edge research in the urban sector, NIUA seeks to provide innovative solutions to address the challenges of a fast urbanising India and pave the way for more inclusive and sustainable cities of the future.

In early 2022, GBPN and C-Cube formed an alliance to support mainstreaming of climate actions in Indian cities. Their mutual contributions pivot around developing and implementing Eco Niwas Samhita (ENS), which provides guidelines for incorporating strategic design considerations, implementing cool roofing and passive ventilation within buildings in general with a focus on middle and low-income housing.
