Job Description
The Global Buildings Performance Network (GBPN) is a globally and regionally focused non-government not-for-profit organisation whose mission is to provide policy expertise and technical assistance to advance building energy performance and realise sustainable built environments for all. With team members located around the World in Indonesia, India, Australia, and Europe, GBPN brings over 10 years of knowledge and innovation to sustainable building policy reform. With every project, governments leverage our intellectual capital, our experience, analysis, evidence and our network.
GBPN goal is to contribute to the building sector achieving its full energy savings and CO2 mitigation potential of more than 2.1 Gt by 2030. To do that, GBPN assists governments and industry to implement climate change actions in their building sectors that help achieve their commitment to the Paris Climate Agreement and Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
Context & Reason for the Hire
Over the past three years, GBPN has experienced rapid organisational growth and expansion of services, particularly in Indonesia and India. There is also the very real issue of time running out. If we are to achieve zero emissions by 2030, incremental change is no longer enough, we need to think and act bigger and faster.
GBPN works using a unique coalition model that connects local policymakers and building professionals with industry-leading experts to reform building policies to achieve zero-emissions goals. We combine global insights with local action changing building policy through education, support and collaboration.
GBPN’s operation in Indonesia started in late 2019 and has continued to grow with the goal to become a trusted partner and thought leader in providing sustainable and innovative solutions to achieve Zero Emission Buildings in Indonesia. We have provided policy and technical assistance to policymakers, private sector, academicians/ researchers and other key stakeholders to support the government in meeting its climate goals through the building sector.
GBPN’s methodology is a data-driven, evidence-based bottom-up approach that heavily relies on local-global data set and information toward deriving evidence based fit-for-purpose recommendations for policy reform and/or market mechanisms.
Due to the rapid uptake of on-going and upcoming activities and engagement, GBPN is currently looking to expand its internal capability in regards to Data Analysis, as support to in-house Building Energy Modelling and Simulation activities.
Scope of Work
GBPN is seeking the services of a Data Analyst who can work closely with Senior Manager and Project Manager at GBPN to:
- Develop data collection template and framework
- Carry out on-site data collection through Walkthrough Audits
- Review and improve data collection protocols and methodologies, to ensure data quality over samples.
- Suggest data review, sorting, tabulation protocols to enable easy reading, verification and understanding.
- Manage internal databases development and update.
- Identify Energy and CO2 emissions savings opportunities, and prioritize potential improvements based on technical and financial feasibility
- Develop Energy and CO2 mitigations scenarios and recommendations for public and private stakeholders
Skills and Qualifications
We are looking for a consultant with good experience in data analysis and with a specific focus on building energy performance.
The consultant should demonstrate a proven track record in working with non-profits organizations and dealing with climate-change, energy-efficiency, and related policy issues, with a focus on philanthropic donors and multilateral agencies.
- Academic background in architecture, building physics, mechanical engineering.
- A good knowledge of building energy performance, preferably with experience in evaluating buildings in Tropical climates (Indonesia is a plus)
- A junior profile with relevant project track record is accepted.
- Knowledge of Building Energy Modelling is a plus
- A good command of English and notably good writing skills, as all deliverables must be presented in that language and general correspondence is in English.
- Flexibility regarding local and global travel, as site visit will be needed.
- Access to Highest Speed internet available in the country of work.We are looking for a consultant with good experience in data analysis and with a specific focus on building energy performance.
Conditions
This position is available for commencement as soon as 1st June 2025 and is offered for service consulting contract for 1 year, as a 80% FTE (Full Time Employment), equivalent to 184 days per year.
Communication with GBPN team members around the world is largely online and may require travel or working outside normal working hours (only if needed).
The position is a remote working position, based in Jakarta/ surrounding area.
