Global Alliance for Disaster Risk Reduction and Resilience in the Education Sector (GADRRRES)

GBPN is a member of the Global Alliance for Disaster Risk Reduction and Resilience in the Education Sector (GADRRRES) and an active participant in working group 1 (Safe Learning Facilities Working Group).

The GADRRRES is a multi-stakeholder mechanism composed of UN agencies, international organisations, and global networks. GADRRRES is an alliance of partners working to ensure that all schools are safe from disaster risks and all learners live in a culture of safety. The main purposes of GADRRRES are to strengthen global coordination, increase knowledge, and advocate on risk reduction education and safety in the education sector. The work of the Global Alliance ultimately contributes to a global culture of safety and resilience through education and knowledge.

In support of the Sustainable Development Goals and in line with the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction and Education 2030: Incheon Declaration and Framework for Action, GADRRRES promotes a comprehensive approach to disaster risk reduction education through the Comprehensive School Safety Framework. This approach is based on education policy, plans, and programs that are aligned with disaster management at national, regional, district and local school site levels. The Comprehensive School Safety Framework rests on three pillars; namely Safe Learning Facilities; School Disaster Management; and Risk Reduction and Resilience Education.
