Webinar “Is the private sector a key driver of the building sector decarbonization?”

The built environment is responsible for nearly 40% of the global energy and process-related CO2 emissions and is at the cornerstone of the fight against climate change.

Indonesia is the second biggest construction market in SEA. It is a market that is still heavily relying on energy intensive processes and fossil fuels, with limited building regulations addressing energy and carbon emissions. The ambition gap to decarbonize the building sector is complex because it is fragmented and it involves multi-lateral stakeholders from both the public and private sectors to align itself with much needed policy reform initiatives. to meet

For Indonesia to be able to achieve its NDC and carbon mitigation goals of 29% by 2030, an alignment and collaboration between the building sector stakeholders is imperative to achieve an expedient and impactful market transformation towards a low carbon future.

In line with GBPN’s goal to support the Indonesian building market shift towards a low carbon future, GBPN is developing a series of webinars “Why low carbon housing matters in meeting Indonesia’s Nationally Determined Commitment (INDC) goals?” targeted at key policy makers, private sector companies operating in the built environment, local building experts and the realty sector.

The objective of the webinar series is to demonstrate the benefit of developing a low carbon and sustainable built environment, for all the stakeholders involved within the building supply chain and encourage the public and private sector work together towards a common decarbonization strategy.
